I think that refers to any sort of addiction, whether it's anorexia, drugs, alcohol, etc. Whatever you numb yourself with- drugs, let's say - will also slowly destroy you as you suppress your emotions with it. I heard Angelina Jolie was the one who first got this tattooed, and she had a problem for a long time with drugs and cutting. At the time, these things comforted her, but they just ended up hurting her in the long term. That's my take on it. :) [ opinionated06's advice column | Ask opinionated06 A Question ]

All humans are nourished by food, but food destroys anorexics.
Alchoholics and drug addicts are nourished by the substances they use, but they destroy their body. [ pockets's advice column | Ask pockets A Question ]

xomichelle891xo answered Thursday January 4 2007, 10:27 pm: "What nourishes me always destroys me" is a term anorexic people use. Its because people with eating disorders think that getting fat is the worst possible thing that could happen to them..ever. Yet, food is good and it is essential to LIFE and they know that. So, basically when they eat they are destroying the goal to be skinny (so they think) which all in all, will destroy not just their diet, but their life and their everything.
