Always offer an explanation no matter how vague it is, don't promise anything you can't follow through on and hold on to the knowledge that it is the right thing to do at this moment in time.
If it helps, try writing a letter explaining the reasons or circumstances that this person can take away with them after you have spoken. It may help you to clarify your thoughts, and it could possible help the other person understand more clearly.

Every goodbyes are gonna hurt. you can't help that hunn. His feelings will be torn either way... cuz you're no longer part of his life. But if he loves you then he'll try to understand whatever reasons you give him. He'll be happy as long as you're happy. Just try to be honest with him and tell him that you don't mean any harm or try to hurt him. its a phase that you're going through and you need some times to yourself. Its not his fault, there's nothin he can do to help other than let you be independence for a while. but you guys can still be friends. those sorta things. I hope it helps a bit.
try it out and see... good luck and hopefully everything works out. [ justaskVy's advice column | Ask justaskVy A Question ]
