well my boyfriend stopped cutting a year ago, and hes getting worried because his scars haven;t gone away. how long does it usually take for them to go away?

they dont just go away in an instant it takes time. As the scar tissue is replaced my new tissues. My cutting scars took about 2 to 3 years to be un noticable, but not completely.

They wont. Before you cut you need think there are always going to be scars. i have personally expirienced it. Cutting is to relive the pain but the scars are going to be there forever as a reminder of why you did it to begin with. you can try using creams to make them fade but they wont fully go away espessially if they were really deep.

They won't go away, just fade. Try using Maderma gel on the scars, it'll help fade them faster. I stopped 3 years ago and you can still see mine. Even worse.. when you get cold, they get really noticable. If you can't get maderma, just try cocoa butter.

Scars may fade but will probably never really go away. Tell him if someone notices tell them what they are and how he quit doing it. Use them to educate others. :)
