Easy answer is this.

Type 1 diabetics have to give themselves insulin shots.

Type 2 diabeties is controlled by diet and exercise...no shot.

Type 1 diabetes & type 2 diabetes are almost [very] similar.

Type 1 diabetes-
type one diabetes is usually diagnosed in children & young adults [but it can also be diagnosed in elder`s too] Diabetes type 1 is when your body does not produce insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar (glucose), starches and other food into energy needed for daily life.

Type 2 diabetes-
Type 2 diabetes is the most common form of diabetes. In type 2 diabetes, either the body does not produce enough insulin or the cells ignore the insulin. Insulin is necessary for the body to be able to use sugar. Sugar is the basic fuel for the cells in the body, and insulin takes the sugar from the blood into the cells. When glucose builds up in the blood instead of going into cells, it can cause two problems:
-Right away, your cells may be starved for energy.
- Over time, high blood glucose levels may hurt your eyes, kidneys, nerves or heart.

While diabetes occurs in people of all ages and races, some groups have a higher risk for developing type 2 diabetes than others. Type 2 diabetes is more common in African Americans, Latinos, Native Americans, and Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders, as well as the aged population.

There you go :] I hope I helped you understand a little about type 1 & 2 diabetes. ♥

My husband has type 2 diabetes. It is usually comes on later in life due to health reasons in his case it was becasue he was over weight. Type 2 can be controlled as far as I know through proper diet and excercise.
Type 1 is insulin dependant and usually comes on early in life.
