Dogs often shake and shiver if they have got wet or even if they are cold. However, if your dog is doing this all the time, then it needs to be seen by a qualified veterinarian. All dogs are different, but breeds of dogs are also very different and so what may be very normal in one dog may indicate a medical condition in another.

When you take a dog to the vet he or she can get an overall picture of the dog and look at its eyes, check its heart, ensure its breath is ok (sometimes dogs can have very sweet, sickly smelling breath if they are ill) and in this way the vet can actually diagnose whether the shaking and shivering is just peculiar to that dog or is a cause for concern. Without that kind of real life, detailed assessment, it is wrong to assume that it is a symptom of a serious illness or that it is absolutely not a cause for concern, so have the dog checked out !

I hope the problem has been solved with your dog. You are right to be worried though. If your dog is not cold or frightened, shaking or shivering in a dog is a sign of pain or illness. The dog would need to be seen by a vet to determine what is causing the problem.

You didn't say what breed of dog and the age, but that would have been helpful information. For example Chihuahuas and some other small dogs have such a high metabolism they "shake" a lot and it's
usually nothing to worry about.

Your dog is most likely scared, or cold. Hug her in a warm blanket and whisper calmly in her ear. Give her treats. Pat her.
I've also noticed that every dog loves to be scratched in a certain area. The area is different for every dog: behind its ears, on its chin... as a dog owner, you would've noticed where your dog loves to be scratched.
Do anything that would comfort a dog.

Hope I helped

She may just be cold or nervous. Just keep her warm, put her clothes on. if she does, put her on a heating pad and if the shaking doesnnt stop by tomorrow, take her to a vet or something
