iPOD NANO -need help ASAP-

Question Posted Tuesday December 26 2006, 10:07 pm

Okay, so my boyfriend bought me a pink iPod nano for christmas [4gb] I have a few questions. You can answer one or all, whatever. But if you have an answer, please let me know. Cause the instructions that come with it SUCKS!!

1- I plugged my iPod in, before I installed iTunes. It says "Do Not Disconnect" What will happen if I do??

2- How do I make it on my iTunes account where I don't have to put in my credit card number. Also, if I get ready to put it in, Can I add it?

Thanks. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :]

(Please skip the part about iTunes... I wrote this yesterday, and don't have time at the moment to edit it down to your situation only. Sorry about that. I also don't know what to tell you about question #2 Always best to ask each question individually for more suitable answers.)

You can damage your computer, your iPod or both when you just yank the cable out while the iPod screen says "Do Not Disconnect!"

All you should need to do is open iTunes, select your iPod, and click the "eject" button.

This tells your iPod video (or nano, shuffle, click wheel, etc) to get ready to be unplugged.

It makes sure the disk or memory in the iPod isn't doing anything important at the time, and reduces the load on the USB port to help guard against voltage spikes.

If you do that, and are sure you clicked the eject button, but still have no luck, then (if you are a windows user) look in the system tray (down where it shows the time) for an icon that looks like a little gray block or card with an arrow.

Double click that, and it will list anything hooked up tp your computer's USB ports.

Select your iPod Video, and tell it you want to disconnect it. It will then make it safe to remove as far as the computer is concerned.

If you STILL have that message, head over to:

Good luck,

i dont know about the second question, but about the do not disconnect thing... if you unplug it while it says that it could screw up your ipod and make it more likely to freeze up and die and all that annoying crap. just install itunes and hit the Eject iPod button and then you`ll be ok to disconnect it.
