i bought my boyfriend an ipod nano for christmas and it doesnt have the installation CD or anything like my mini does.. i was going to help him set it up but how do i do it? just plug the ipod in to the comp. after he downloads itunes and it`ll automatically start or what ??

Same thing happeneed to me...but my cousin bought it for me and he's from away...so I was really puzzled.
I got a manual with mine...and it says if you go to "www.apple.com/ipod/start". It takes a while, I have dial-up and it took about 4-5 hours...but dsl and broadband and stuff would take less time. Oh and the best part about it is that you can cancel the download and then start back a next day and it continues from where it cancelled.
Then...well you should know the rest.

most ipod nanos don't come with the cd any more. that's what happened to my friend this early this week. she asked to borrow mine but you can just download itunes off the website. [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) first download it and any music you want to also you can use music from limewire but mp3 format works the best and then plug it in and it should detect it if not the go your my computer and see removable device or something like that

yes, i have the nano and thats what i did. THere should be directions in the box, just in case, but i didn't get a CD either. You just plug it in and itunes will pop up and you can start working with it.
