Natty137 answered Thursday December 7 2006, 1:52 pm: You can but I don't recommend it. I broke my hymen by wearing tampons. It is better to wear maxi pads until you have actually "popped your cherry." [ Natty137's advice column | Ask Natty137 A Question ]

LagunaBabe answered Monday December 4 2006, 10:33 pm: Yes, you can wear a tampon if you hymen is not yet broken. Although, it may hurt being as your hymen has not been broken. But it can be broken in other ways than having sex, such as riding a bike, playing sports, inserting a tampon, etc.
So it may already be broken, without you knowing it yet. Either way, it is completely fine and if it hurts it's normal, and you can always use pads if you would rather. [ LagunaBabe's advice column | Ask LagunaBabe A Question ]
ImFakingHotPink answered Monday December 4 2006, 10:22 pm: Yes, you can. However if you are still a virgin it may be more painful when you insert it. Try finding a smaller size (IE: nothing larger than regular) If a regular which is the most common size is still exremely painful then do not use the applicator and insert it using your hands (the applicator is the plastic casing around each tampon). If it still hurts then get sizzors and cut off a bit from the top so it becomes smaller. [ ImFakingHotPink's advice column | Ask ImFakingHotPink A Question ]
