i am clueless on how to have a good conversation with people other than friends and closer family, (mostly guys). i pause a lot, and usually use "fill in" words like um and like. i dont know what to say. i feel akward when i have nothing to say. everyone says to talk about things that we have in common like maybe sports ot classes, but i feel unconfortable saying things like that, depending on who im with. i dont know what to do.

Dont talk about yourself, ask them about theirself, or bring up something nice about them. People remember the way you make them feel when you talk to them. If you can make them laugh or smile, or talk about them. And not all about yourself, they remember that :]
Talk about things you are comfortable talking about. Good luck!
