Something is probably bothering you. Try to solve any big big problems in your life. Also try doing a ritual before you go to bed. Like take a shower, then watch tv, then read. Or something like that. Try not to talk on the phone or on the computer because that wakes me up more. ]
it probably has somthing to do with your subconsionce (sp is rong i no) tell your parents aout it and your doctor can provide lunesta etc... ]
Try exercising in the afternoon. Don't drink any drinks containing caffine. Make sure you drink plenty of water during the day. Take a warm bath in the evening. Make your room as comfortable as possible with a cooler temperature. Sometimes sleeping on something nice and soft will help. If you haven't fallen asleep within a half an hour after laying down, sit up and read for 15 minutes then try again. Sometimes we just need to divert our thoughts. Another good idea is to turn the clock around so you don't know what time it is. It only makes you more stressed knowing how much time has passed. More thank likely this is a phase you are going through and it will pass. If you can avoid medications it would be best. ]
I have the same problem, it's called insomnia. It means that you are too stressed. I have been trying to find other ways that work, and I haven’t been completely successful yet. But I have been able to lower the amount of time at night that I spend lying awake.
If you study in advance more for tests etc, and are more organized that often will help, because you wont have anything to think about at night, however sometimes that just makes you think of other more interesting things. So what I often will do, if build in extra time to just lie there and think, because that is actually a beneficial way to work out problems. So sometimes I think ok, I need 7 hours of sleep, I have to be up at 6 I should go to sleep around 11. Then I should actually go to bed around 10-10:30. That way you can still lay there and relax and slowly drift off.
Another idea I found that will often help is a routine. If you build in certain times for things every night it can help. Like if you say brush your teeth at 10 every night, and set your alarm clock at 10:05 every night, then soon your mind will begin to adjust to that. Also I good idea (which may seem completely unrealistic, it did to me when I heard it, but it does work) is to try and set that routine on Fridays and Saturdays too. (I was like... my social life...:() but it did help. Because I didn’t sleep so late in the morning and it didn’t through off my schedule as much.
Another Idea is to regulate your eating schedule. (I know you're probably like.. wth? What does eating have to do with sleep?) If you eat at 9:30 and you attempt to fall asleep within two hours after that, it will be nearly impossible. Your stomach will be busy digesting. So bed time snacks are a horrible idea (so are midnight snack btw)
This is getting super long, so I'll end it there, but if anybody else has this problem and has tried those already, and they don’t work, let me know, (ask me a question) because I have other things that work. Sleep, I hope I helped, and I hope you can find a way to get rid of that insomnia if not, just let me know. Good luck!

well its too late now but talk to your doctor and maybe buy lunesta or some other sleep med. ]
Well, I used to have trouble sleeping.
There are a bunch of those sleeping pill things that you can take out there and about half of them don't work with crap.
If you go to Walmart or something, ask one of the people who work there if they know of a good sleeping pill which works and wont make you tired still when you wake up.
Maybe you need a new matress. That's all I needed and I could sleep again like normal.
If you have something that's on your mind and troubling you, that could be a reason also.
Before you go to bed, don't be weird and run 398472189472304 laps or exercise or something. It makes it hard for you to calm down and go to sleep. ]
First, you need to a take a look at your daily habits. Are you very inactive before you go to bed? Are you drinking enough fluids? Are you drinking caffeine or eating heavy foods before you sleep? Are you depressed? Sometimes its the things that you do during the day that effect your sleep.
The National Sleep Foundation also recommends doing the following if you're unable to sleep (take a look at [Link](Mouse over link to see full location) for more information):
1. Maintain a regular bed and wake time schedule including weekends.
2. Establish a regular, relaxing bedtime routine such as soaking in a hot bath or hot tub and then reading a book or listening to soothing music.
3. Create a sleep-conducive environment that is dark, quiet, comfortable and cool.
4. Sleep on a comfortable mattress and pillows.
5. Use your bedroom only for sleep and sex.
6. Finish eating at least 2-3 hours before your regular bedtime.
7. Exercise regularly. It is best to complete your workout at least a few hours before bedtime.
8. Avoid caffeine (e.g. coffee, tea, soft drinks, chocolate) close to bedtime. It can keep you awake.
9. Avoid nicotine (e.g. cigarettes, tobacco products). Used close to bedtime, it can lead to poor sleep.
10. Avoid alcohol close to bedtime.
If none of these work, you might have insomnia; something a physician can prescribe pills for. You can read up about that here:
