highschool.

Question Posted Thursday November 9 2006, 9:23 pm

i just started high school this year, and its so hard for me, mainly because its so different from what I'm used to with junior high. all of my friends have adjusted and seem to go with the flow, but i just cant. I'm up till midnight every night doing homework, i have tests and reports every week, and i feel like i have no control over my life anymore. i cant figure out how to manage my time, because i get home from school from 4-4:30 everyday [i live pretty far away from my school]. Does anyone have any tips on what i can do, and some tips for relieving stress, or better yet stopping it? thank you i appreciate it soo much

Hey. I know how you feel becuase I have cheerleading everyday right after school. Since your in highschool, you probably get a "study period," so you could do some of it then. Also, since you said you're on the bus for a while, you can do it on the bus. As for organization, you always want to be neat, I'm only in 7th grade so I probably get alot less homework then you, but It's still hard to stay ontoop of things. Also, you could complain to a parent or a guardian and they'll probably call the school and they might cut it down. Lastly, you could stay after school and get alot done, I don't know why, but that always helps me get stuff done. I hope i helped ♥ Kathleen

well first i would say if it's still possible to stick with easier classes, although most schools cut off dropping classes after 2 weeks. You can only take so much in the beginning of highschool sometimes, keep it to where you can handle it.
If you can't change classes then i suggest keeping things in order and coordinated to time. this may seem like a pain in the ass but will help you out in the long run.

It might be helpful to start a timetable. But as soon as you come in you probarbly feel tired right??So grab a drink and a snack and start on the homework you recieved that day.Do half of it then have your dinner or do all of it and then have your dinner. Then you have free time unless you have chores - do those.Chill out with some tv or computer time, and a nice relaxing bath , bubbles and oils help.Or a hot nice shower.Phone a friend and talk or write in a journel to releive your feelings and grab a stressball.Click here to get one:

EVERY SINGLE chance tht you get, take your mind off of school. if someone asks you to go out one night- GO. dont hold back because you think that a little studying is crucial to the rest of your life- dont get me wrong, im not enforcing horrible grades, but i manage to do it- with a baby on the way, and i am a straight a student. trust me, if i can do it- you can def. do it.

Yes it takes some time to get used to.
Just try to finish your homework in another class or at lunch, or before class. That's what some people did.

And if it's too much for you.. just study tests and work on big projects. Let little homework assignments go by.

If you're having too much trouble, talk to a teacher or something.. ask for their advice. Tell them you live really far from school and how you have limited time to get things done. They may give you a few more days for assignments. You just really need ONE good teacher as a friend, you know?

Try having a study group with your friends, tell them you need help.. they could make it fun.

I didn't know how to handle this stress when I got into high school and I just.. let it go. So don't do that, just keep trying. Sooner or later, it will become easier and it won't take up much time.

You need to multi-task. Get out a few books, get out those papers.. and maybe have a snack nearby.

It may seem hard to do, but it won't be anymore. If the class is too hard for you, drop it and go to another class.
