I used to have a well-known account on this site, and it was because I just answered as many questions as I could, and if the people rated me highly, I would be listed on the top-rated columnists and I got more people asking questions.
Also, if you've answered their question very well and they like you, you can also be added as their favorite columnist so whenever they have a problem, they can go directly to your page and ask, and they may also start to tell their friends.
It just really depends how well you answer your questions and if they person likes you and everything, and also how well you get your advice column out there to people.
orphans answered Monday November 6 2006, 11:57 pm: itbasically, your advice column wont get too well known unless your a top moderator or known for giving really good advice
what you should do is basically put it in your aim profile, myspace, facebook, whatever
normally the questions you get in your inbox are from your friends, so if your friends know the link, then theyll come to you with questions [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]

No chat speak or a lot of abbreviated and misspelled words, like cuz instead of because.
Most of us don't get a LOT of inbox questions. But you will get some. A lot of the time they may have a question about some advice you gave, or want a little more information. If you have really helped someone they may just come to you for advice the next time they need it.
Answering questions from the site will also get your column a rating. Some will look for ratings when trying to find a columnist to ask a question.
Inbox ratings to not count toward your column rating.
