Hair color

Question Posted Tuesday October 24 2006, 3:25 pm

I want to give my daughter pink streaks in her hair for Halloween (she's 3). I bought spray on hair color that goes on really nice and bright. But I can't figure out how to give her streaks, like highlights. After I get the streaks right I want to pull back her hair in a ponytail and put glitter on it. It will look really cute if I can ever figure it out.

Any suggestions?

Use plastic wrap and section out the pieces of hair you want to be pink. Spray the sections pink and leave the plastic wrap on them until they are dry. I would shy away from aluminum foil because sometimes the alumninum reacts with hair products and alters the color. Professional colorists use 'foil' for highlights, but it's not made from aluminum. You can get professional foil at Sally's Beauty Supply if you want, but I think plastic wrap will be more cost effective.

Happy Halloween!

AWW!! That sounds so cute!

Okay, the easier thing to do is get some aluminum foil. Take a piece of hair, lift it up, pu a small piece of aluminum foil under it, then spray the color on there. Then just do that for each streak. Sounds pretty easy right?

And just throw some glitter in there before you put it in a pony tail. That should look really cute!

What is she going as?

Here's a site that pretty much explains everything:

[Link](Mouse over link to see full location)

What I've done in the past is,
is my mom had someone else help her with it, and just sit me down and tell me to hold really still. And obviously, wear a shirt you don't mind getting pink all over and everything.

Then just have her hair sit perfectly straight and have someone hold two pieces of paper flat against the hair, leaving a big space inbetween them for where you want to spray, and just spray that area, and keep on doing it.

Then, obviously, just put your daughters hair in a ponytail, and toss the glitter in there, and there you go!

I'm imagining it now, it's going to look so cute.

I hope I helped.

Ummm, there is spray paint for your hair that might be easier to use, that might work better. (you can find it at walmart). Also, you could try putting the streaks in her hair AFTER you put it in a ponytail. Okay, so i hope i helpe!
