Okay, the other columnists are correct in the fact that you shouldn't be worried, but please don't think for a second that sperm dies when it hits the air. That's ridiculous. Whoever thought that up and started spreading it around needs to be punched in the face. It can actually live anywheres from a few minutes to a few hours depending on the conditions. So, if you hadn't washed your hands, you would have risked becoming pregnant. The chances are very small, but still there. Since you got your period, there's nothing to worry about. If you are careful and safe, like you were, there's no reason to worry about pregnancy. Just be conscious of everything and don't get too caught up in the moment. :)
