one of my best friends has recently revealed to me that she has a crush on this boy. howver, we are seniors in high school, and he is only a freshman in high school. what makes it weirder is that my friends brother is a freshman too (he doesn't know she likes this kid). i know that age shouldn't matter, but i just feel the wholse situation is so awkward & weird. he isn't really "matured" yet, so it is SO strange. she keeps on talking about it & it just bothers me that she basically has a crush on a little boy. the kid doesn't even know she likes him, but she talks about him as if they are married. what should i do? am i wrong in saying this is sort of innappropriate?

Currently this is happening to one of my friends, so I have to admit I play it off as a normal thing. It will fade. Most girls like younger guys because there funny and cute. Try and support your friend until she doesn't like him anymore. [ AskAndy's advice column | Ask AskAndy A Question ]

She really likes this guy and he seems to be making her really happy ( even though he doesn't know it hah! ) but, still. If he makes her happy ; that's all that matter. I do find it a little weird that she's so much older than him, but that's how we've been taught growing up. Older guy dates younger girl or same-aged girl, so whenever we see something other than that it is a little strange to us. And the age really isn't that big of the difference ; it's just 3 years or so which in a common age difference with most couples. It just seems really young because of the grades. 12th graders sound so much older than 9th graders and the fact that she's going to college soon and everything makes her sound even more older. But like I said, if it makes her happy, that's all that really matters.
