Alright, i've had this puppy for about 4 months, hes a golden doodle, his Mother was a standard poodle and his Father was a Golden Retriever, hes black with curly curly hair. well, I convinced my mom to let me keep him as a house dog, but i need to find out a few things. okay, what are some things dogs can/cannot eat. I know dogs cant have chocolate, but i know there are certian fruits and vegitables dogs cant have. can somebody tell me, or give me a website that will tell me what dogs can/canot eat? i dont wanna keep him inside and have him die cuz he ate something, or if we fed him something wrong. I've heard they cant have garlic, but again, idk.

Grapes are also poison to animals like dogs and cats. You won't see the effects of them until later in life, but it's not pretty. Giving your dog grapes as a treat won't just choke your dog, it will cause kidney problems. Raisens are worse because they're just concentrated grapes.
Pork, like most hot dogs, are also dangerous. Many people go into vet clinics right after the holidays like easter, where everyone eats ham. This is because people who feed their dogs table scraps are feeding their dog things that are going to cause major health problems. It's not JUST the risk of getting your dog majorly fat and unhealthy, it's the risk of killing all of your dogs internal organs.
There might be some kind of "doggy chocolate" to give your dog, but I wouldn't advise it. You dont want your dog to get a taste of chocolate. They already have a sweet tooth like everyone else. Say you drop your candy bar while your dog is around. If she thinks that chocolate is her treat as well, she won't hesitate to chomp it up.
Plus, I know a friend who tried feeding her dog "doggy ice cream" and he had diarrhea every day he had it. I can't imagine that being healthy, or comfortable for the dog.
Your right about garlic being dangerous, onions are also dangerous.
isis answered Sunday October 1 2006, 5:27 pm: Your best bet is to give him a good quality dog food, if it's the dry type he will need access to plenty of water. This will give him all the nutrients he needs. As a treat, you could give him bits of apple, (no pips) or banana. If you give him fresh cooked chicken, you could mix it up with some plain boiled potatoes and low seasoned gravy that has cooled to blood temperature. However, too many veggies can make them flatulent. They can also eat white and brown bread (the bread with bran added is quite good for them). They shouldn't eat highly seasoned food or anything with a really strong taste.
You're right about the chocolate, but you can get no sugar doggy chocolate as another treat.
Mostly, apart chocolate, dogs tend to know what is good for them and usually avoid harmful things, but it is better to not take risks.
Hope that helps and good luck. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
DancinCutie08 answered Sunday October 1 2006, 5:26 pm: I wouldnt give a dog any people food. The only thing my dog gets usually is cheese if we have to give her meds or a little gravy (but usually we use dog gravy) if we have extra to mix into her food. Not only is it bad for their stomachs but they will beg at the dinner table and if they are ever at a kennel while you are in vaca chances are they wont eat the dog food they are give.
Anything without bones or alot of sugar isn't bad for them though every once and a while. Just once you start giving food even just a little bite they will annoy the heck out of you while you try to eat.
You best bet is just dog food.. they make alot of canned stuff that they love if you want him to eat well
