I hate scams don't you. In this situation I just hope nobody takes your poem makes money off of it and empties your pockets. Make sure you read all the regulations, and policies. They always reveil the secret. Trust me you'll find out. Or try to get the hotline of the website, and personally call, and say you have a lawyer present just to get the word out of them.

PS I am a great columnist I've been through it all. Spread the word

Poetry.com, probably. I would not do this! Your poem will probably end up in a huge book of poems, that no one is going to bother to buy, or read. Do not fall for it.

Sounds like Poetry.com

I've done this so many times - and I felt stupid each and every time I did it.

You do not get money for letting Poetry.com publish your poem - they do.

People buy these books for like, fifty bucks a piece, and you don't see a red cent - because it *says* you don't get anything.

All you get is the "glory of having one of your poems published."

It will get published, yes. You don't have to pay anything.

But you WILL NOT get paid for your work.

Many of these contests are a scam. Read what they sent you very very carefully and check this out for more information on spotting these scams:

What company is this? I suggest you google this company and their poetry thing and read up as much as you can. If you're a student, ask teachers, counslors, whatever if they know about this and if you should do this. If you're not, ask your friends, your co workers...just about anyone who shares the same interest as you.

Some of these are actually true. Students at my school got picked, they got money, and their poems were published in an actual book.
