Twitching...??

Question Posted Tuesday September 26 2006, 3:16 am

Ok, I wasn't sure where to put this but here I go.

The last few weeks, just under my eye.. like in the corner next to my nose it has been twitching.

It's driving me CRAZY. It doesn't twitch when I put my finger on it so i've been walking around with my finger on my face most of the day.

The girl that I work with said it was to do with tiredness.. but i'm not sure!

Can anyone please tell me how to get rid of it, i'm sick of it!

18/f if that helps at all...

Thanks in advance!

That's totally normal. It will go away in time and just try to ignore it. Good Luck!

I don't know if it's true or not but I heard twitching is caused due to lack of potassium intake. So try eating some bananas or vitamins with potassium in them. Hope I helped!

your work friend sounds about right, yoiu maybe stressed , or just tired! get extra sleep and relxa as much as you can in your free time. If it doesnt go away in a few weeks, speak to your docter or optician, it may just be a nervous twitch, so relxing may just work,
good luck

Twitches often develop due to stress, anxiety, or over-exertion. You can also develop a twitch by consuming too much caffeine.

I recommend that you increase your magnesium intake through supplements or by eating more bananas and nuts. Decrease your intake of caffeine. And try to relax! If you can afford it, take a spa day. It sounds like you deserve one.

If this doesn't help, you might want to see if you can drop one of your obligations (extracurriculars, extra job hours, etc.). If you still continue to twitch, you might want to see your doctor. He'll ask questions and most likely prescribe either an anti-anxiety medication or mild muscle relaxant.

Yeah, it happens. I find that it happens to me when I'm tired most often so my best advice is to get some sleep. And yes, the finger on the eye does help to make it stop - I think it has to do with the pressure that you're putting on it. Dont' worry about it, it should go away within 24-48 hours but dont' be surprised or worried if it comes back every now at then.
I wish I had a more medical answer, but I don't.
