Question Posted Monday September 25 2006, 11:36 pm
well my wisdom teeth are coming out this friday and im soo scared...im only 14 years old....is there anything i should be prepared for? any food advice?? thanks.
Make sure that you follow all of the oral surgeon's instructions for after the procedure though. That's what's important. Rinse with salt water every day to prevent an infection and follow all the instructions on what kinds of food you can eat and when. I ate a lot of bananas, pudding, peanut butter and jelly, soft cookies, and macaroni and cheese.
After the novocane wore off it hurt. For a while. You should be perscribed some pain killers and if not, regular ones should work fine. Make sure you take them after the surgery even if it doesn't hurt yet. Ask your surgeon how long after you have to wait before taking them and take them as soon as you are allowed. Be prepared for it to really hurt after a few hours. Get some music, a blanket, or anything that can comfort you ready in case you need it. There's not much you can do for it except wait it out. After a few days pass, keep your mouth moving. Though it hurts a little and may make you look kind of silly, it helps a lot. It kept my mouth from getting tight and hurting a lot when I had to eat or talk.
I followed all of the instructions I was given and everything turned out just fine. If the instructions aren't clear or don't answer any of your questions just ask your surgeon. Call at anytime and you'll get the help you need. Good luck!!! :) [ sizzlinmandolin's advice column | Ask sizzlinmandolin A Question ]

Or just drink soup until you think its okay to start chewing again. I got my teeth pulled a few weeks ago and it wouldn't stop bleeding the entire day. If yours is the same then I suggest you put some honey on the spot where they pulled your teeth out. I tried it and it stopped most of the bleeding. I know when I had mine out they throbbed a little
but didn't hurt anywhere near as bad as the toothaches I had before getting them removed. They will also probably give you a prescription for the pain anyway.
You won't want to eat pizza or anything for a couple of days but you will do fine. You will feel so much better when they are gone. :) [ karenR's advice column | Ask karenR A Question ]

Dont eat just after because most of your face will be numb and you will bite your cheek alot. Stick to soft food like soup for a few days afterwards and most importantly dont worry!
It's over before you know it and the worst thing you can do is worry. They pretty much numb your whole face too so it doesn't hurt one bit.
hope i helped. xx [ sloubidoo's advice column | Ask sloubidoo A Question ]
