Hey. Well firstly usually people who are depressed just feel very upset, and mope around feeling like they have no friends or anyone who loves them, which of course they are very wrong. They also feel bored with life and always want to sleep, or eat. If you have these symtoms you may be depressed. Then again, the fact you can get yourself happy by going places is a great sign and you should try to do as much as you can to make yourself happy. Also, you said you don't sleep a lot which I think is a sign of not having depression, unless you lay up all night thinking of your problems. They also have medication for depression as you probably know already but the main question is, do you feel depressed? If you feel you are depressed then you probably are but if you're just saying you think so because of the symptoms then I think you're fine :). I hope this helped a little and please give feedback my friend.
Chrissie

There is a difference between depression and anxiety. You may just be stressed out. But sometimes that can lead to depression. The symptoms of depression are distancing yourself from your normal activities, bcoming lazy, feelings of remorse about everything you do, feeling sorry for yourself, not getting enough or getting too much sleep, crying, not eating enough or too much, weight gain or loss frequently, sucidal thoughts or homicidal thoughts, not being able to become happy and remain happy for a while, mood swings, numbness(not being able to attach the emotions that you feel to your head and the way you think). I hope I helped.

Consider the fact whether or not you actually think you're depressed. It sounds to me like you're tired, and sad because you have nothing to do. Then again, it totally depends on how you are and what you see of yourself. Smile because that's the first step to raising your self esteem if you actually are depressed ! :D

Depression can be a difficult thing to diagnose, as there are many other possible reasons for suffering the same symptoms. For this reason, I would urge that if you feel you may suffer with it, you should speak to your doctor for a formal diagnosis and treatment. However, in the meantime, some of the most common symptoms of depression are as follows:

- Feeling sad with no obvious reason
- Lack of energy
- Feelings of inadequacy
- Feeling incapable of completing minor tasks
- Periods of anxiety with no obvious cause
- Irritability and anger
- Feelings of guilt
- Overthinking and analysing the negative aspects of your life on a constant/regular basis.

Again, I would stress that these can be symptoms of other things so don't resign yourself to the idea it is depression. Also, please remember that depression can be beaten if you really want to get over it. Speak to your doctor for a diagnosis and they will be able to come up with some suggestions for dealing with the problem.
