Comeing Out

Question Posted Sunday September 3 2006, 12:41 am

I really want to 'sort of' come out, but my mum thinks that I shouldn't because our town is full of biggots and homophobes. I would only come out on my myspace, by putting bisexual on the sexuality, just so someone might see it. I don't know how to convince her that I sould be able to do so, and I really don't want to do something so big without havin her agreement. Could someone please tell me something to help convince my mum?

well heres an idea, compromise. put "no answer" for your sexuality. and then, you can tell your close friends, ones you know wont be biggoted about it, that you are bi.

Ooh, tough one. In a situation like this, I think it's best to follow your heart. If you believe you're ready to start letting people know, and you trully believe you can deal with the occasional bigot and homophobe, then it's up to you whether or not to come out. Follow the path that YOU think is right for your own well-being, not the path your mom's telling you to go down. Just keep in mind that your mom doesn't want you to get hurt, and she's trying to protect you from the hate that the world unfortunatley does possess. Try explaining to her that you're ready, and maybe she'll understand.
Hope I helped!

Tell her that you didnt choose to be bisexual and you cant help it and it doesn't matter what other people will think and say because as long as your happy then theres nothing to be concerned about.

Tell her that it's important to you and you don't care what the town thinks or says because it will make you feel a million times better.

that's so cool though.
good luck:)

well, i can see why your mother would be concerned. i would really think about your decision, because if you're in a town full of homophobes, it could get pretty nasty. some homophobes can even get slightly violent. so i'm not so sure if i'd want to come out alot to your town, but then again, it's your decision.

so, if you want to convince your mother, tell her it's just something you need to do and everybody just needs to know. you wouldn't feel right if you don't come out, because it's hiding a really huge secret you'd just feel better if you told.

i'm not so sure there is a real way to convince your mother, cause she's probably just really worried for you, and i don't think you'll be able to convince her. like i said, think real hard about telling a town full of homophobes, cause it could possibly get dangerous if they decide to act out.

i hope i helped, though.
