my friends is allergic to condoms..

Question Posted Saturday September 2 2006, 1:29 am

14/f well my friend just told me she is allergic to condoms(like the rubber or something) and i'm worried about her because she is in a relationship with this guy for a while and if they have sex or oral sex shes not protected. shes worried also but she doesn't know what to do. i want to help her but i dont know how.
if she touches a condom she gets a really bad rash and she has to get rushed to the hospital.

thanks in advanced

tell her to try birth control. that would do it. OR even better. STOP HAVING SEX ALL TOGETHER!!! that would fix the problem

Your friend may actually have a latex allergy. This is perfectly normal and there are simple ways to go around this while still being protected. If you go to any pharmacy, I'll bet that you can find non-latex condoms. Polyurethane is the material of choice right now. At 14 years old, I would consider oral contraceptives as a viable alternative. However, each "pill" type contains a different cocktail of hormones that can wreak havok on a growing girl's body until she finds the right pill. For the quick fix, try the polyurethane condoms that are 100% non-latex. In any case, if your friend is being sexually active, she needs to see a gynecologist regularly for her own good.

There's rubber/latex free condoms.

She can also get on birth control too.

Are you 14 or is she 14?

Isn't that a bit too young?

Tell her to get polyurathene (sp?) condoms- latex/rubber free. Available at most drugstores.

Tell your friend if she is allergic to the latex on the condom they make latex free ones and if she is allergic to the rubber tell her that they make hypo-allergenic condoms also.

Good luck,
Hope I helped
