if you want to dress like an emo DO IT! dress however you want and if the people you hang around with dont like it ...then screw them! they are obviously not worth hanging around with!! be yourself you dont have to fit into a stereotype!

Firs of all, I dis agree with what contradictionn said. Emo and goth kids are just as much followers as anyone else.

To answer your question, what do YOU feel most comfortable wearing? If you want to mix preppy and emo...is it because you really think that looks good or are you doing it just because you think you'll be accepted that way.

I'm in college now, but when I was in high school, I went through a similar thing as you. I made friends with a lot of goth people and I dressed like them, but then I realized that I actually liked color in my clothes and started to dress more brightly. Because of that, the goths dumped me and I realized how shallow they were! It's a good way to test if people are your true friends or not. If you want to dress preppy, then DRESS PREPPY! Talk to the emo and goth kids in your preppy clothes, and if they judge and ignore you, then FORGET them! You want to make friends with people who like you for your personality, not because you conform to looking like them.

Good luck!

Well, you're falling to the cliche of stereotypes and that's the first mistake.
"Emo" and "scene" kids do what THEY want.
The "popular kids" have a machine and a type to follow, with the constant worry of 'do I look okay?'

Just try on clothes, be yourself, and don't lable yourself, do what you want style-wise and clique-wise.

if you want the "scene" look wear skinny jeans, Vans, bandanas, cut your hair into very short choppy layers, color it crazy, and wear shirt colors, in layers, that don't match but look good with jeans. If you need help with anything check out my myspace: www.myspace.com/kiirstinthegreat and check out most of my friends. They all pretty much fit the "scene/emo/punk/whatever" look.

Go the the nearest thrift store, buy a pair of jeans, and then beat the hell out them. :)

but really.. you don't want to fit into a label.. be yourself (I know that's what everyone is saying) and dress//act crazy.. if you want to fit into this label, you can't be shy. Do things out of the ordinary.. go up to people in your new school and just say HEY! you look interesting, nice to meet you. Or just say Hey to someone in your class.. do something that stands out so people will notice it and want to strike up a conversation.. don't be the boring new kid.. be the new kid everyone is talking about. email me at kirstineakin@yahoo.com if you have any more questions or need me to explain something further.

Your 13, so you feel like you need to find your own identity.

By trying to fit into a certain label isnt helping anything.

I've said this before and I'll say it again..if you see clothes that you like and you think will look good..WEAR IT..

if you see clothes that a goth or prep or punk or WHATEVER would wear, but you arent really diggin it..DONT WEAR IT.

People respect people who are themselves. If you want to make real friends drop this whole "fitting in" thing, because the best way to fit in is to be yourself.

You will probably outgrow this whole image thing in a couple years anyway.

You're style is pretty much how you want to put your spin on things. Normal basic outfit for you; I'm not sure what that might be, but here, I`ll make up something.

If you're wearing say;
Jeans, with a black shirt.
Try adding cute, bright flats, or a sparkley belt. Add a big necklace such as oversized pearls.

Or go for a shirt with a skull on it with a denim mini. Either add leggings or just wear some dressy cute flip flops [that match the top] Maybe add a pink belt or a bright necklace, bracelete, or earrings to accent the outfit.

Try doing bright makeup or natural. Overloading with darkness could deff. ruin the "preppy" vibe.
Just take a basic outfit, "More scene, or emo" and add preppy touches to it. Accessories are key. They can make or break an outfit!

Goodluck :)

I don't care if you give me a 1. Emo, goth, those are labels. And that's another way to single people out. They are not a fashion statement. And you'll probably be label poser from the beginning.

well first off, i'd try to not label yourself as a type of clothing. second i'd just switch. dress how you want to dress. its really not a big deal, i dont see why people are so obsessed with what other people think but hey, if you want your friends to pick out your wardrobe then be my guest.
