When they're going through a tough time, instead of crying and talking it through, they find it easier to physically hurt themselves, or in this case, kill themselves.
2.Another reason people are suicidal is they want attention.

chakra answered Thursday August 17 2006, 10:37 am: They don't nessesarly go to hell as no one knows for certain that hell exists.
It depends on their religion and beliefs.
If they aren't religious then the fear of going to hell won't be an issue for them because they'll just think when they die, thats it, your gone, you dont live in heaven or hell, and if your so depressed and alone and in pain, and you don't want to live anymore and you don't believe anything happens when you die then they'll just feel they have nothing to lose. When things get tough, wouldn't it be easier to quit and say forget this? Take a math test for example. If you can't solve the equations you'd rather just stop the test all together.
Well when people reach the stage of depression, or overload, they think of death as a permanant choice to get out of all of it. They don't take the time to realize the consiquences for them, and their families.
Vikki27 answered Wednesday August 16 2006, 5:26 pm: The truth is that nobody can ever really understand the reasons behind wanting to die so badly that you try to go through with it. Unless you have been there yourself.
When you're living every single day of your life, not hating anything, not liking anything but just not FEELING anything, it just doesn't matter any more. There are those of us who believe in God who truly believe that at that point, nothing could be worse than the black hole they are in. For those of us who don't believe in God, it just doesn't matter. Heaven and hell don't enter into the equation and the only thing that matters is getting away from yourself because you can't stand to be you, in your mind, in your body, for another minute.
Everyone who goes through this has their own personal opinions as to why they want it all to end and their own explanation of how they got there, so you can't generalise it perfectly for everyone. However, the closest I can get is that it seems like the only option for escape for many people out there, even though the light at the end of the tunnel could be 10 minutes, 10 days or 10 weeks away. ringo8mybaby answered Wednesday August 16 2006, 1:34 pm: You lose hope, see the only way out as killing yourself. As far as the hell and suicide, there is no such thing as hell. The suicide going to hell deal was created so people wouldn't do it. [ ringo8mybaby's advice column | Ask ringo8mybaby A Question ]

And people lose faith. They lose hope. They want to let go. I've tried it, and I was completely lost when I tried it (several times, in fact). I felt like there was no reason to continue and I was pained too much. That is why. [ fatalxheart's advice column | Ask fatalxheart A Question ]
