Ça va?
I would go in college. Many universities offer a study-abroad in the summer and for a semester. You will take classes in French, and in many cases, (I know this from experience, I knew someone who went in the summer) you live with a French family who will only speak French to you.
I highly suggest this even if you want to go for a year, because then you are familiar with the country.
If you go for a year, go after college. You can take higher French classes in college, and you will be more proficient in the language!
DancinCutie08 answered Sunday August 6 2006, 10:26 pm: well most colleges have a course that you can either spend the summer their or a semester there.. so i would do that.. therefor you arent missing anything here and you are still getting a full education [ DancinCutie08's advice column | Ask DancinCutie08 A Question ]

Jade09 answered Sunday August 6 2006, 10:07 pm: it would look really good on your college application if it says that you are fluent in french. so i would probably do it before college. but if you don't want to take a year off you could always do an exchange program when you attend college. alot of colleges support that. they switch you and another student from france so that you can attend a college in france for a year. =]] hope i helped [ Jade09's advice column | Ask Jade09 A Question ]
