When you guys hang out, have a conversation. Once you're into it, ask her out. Just say will you go out with me. It's better when guys ask girls out in person, not over the phone or internet. Also, I think it's stupid that you even asked if you should be emo? Are you serious? If people don't think you're cool, screw them. They obviously don't know you. Just be yourself and don't change for other people. Be fun and outgoing. Don't seem all depressed and sad around people.
