I think my small boxer/pit has been stung by a hornet. He went after one on the porch yesterday and this morning there was a big raised bump on his face. I don't know what to do, should I try to find the stinger or call the vet, or just leave it alone. I didn't know if because it swelled it meant he was allergic or what?
orphans answered Tuesday August 15 2006, 5:06 pm: Call a vet right away. Your dog maybe be allergic and can get an allergic reaction. If it is swelling, hurry. Swelling of anything is something bad. It also can be infected and the bacteria can spread. [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]

aquababe1 answered Wednesday August 2 2006, 12:56 am: definitely call the vet! it sounds like its swollen so i'd just bring him to the vets because they could probably find the stinger more easily and if he is allergic they have all the medicines right there with them.
