Private or Public?

Question Posted Monday July 31 2006, 11:20 am

Ok so i really wanted to go to this really good, expensive private high school for years now and my friend that just moved away is going there, but my best friend isn't going there. I don't really want to wear a uniform and i kind of want to go to a public school because if i went to a religious school would there be any relationships? I'm so confused!

I go to a private school. I actually like having uniforms because you don't have to pick out what you are wearing every single morning. It is really a relief. My school is very religious..I think all private schools are...but that most definately does not prevent relationships haha. Like everybody is in a relationship at my school lol. It's probably the same as public school. =]]]

private schools - uniforms, strict rules (one of the private schools i went to measured your to make sure they were over 2 in high), mostly upperclass kids so they'll get nice cars and you'll be stuck with what you got, drive to school, low rate of diversity, strict about grades, pay to go to it, and good education

public schools - no uniforms, (dont measure socks lol), large diversity, always a group that you can fit into, you dont have to pay for it, lower middle and upper class kids, you choose your own grades without havin someon breathing down your neck about it. dont have to drive to school

Once you get the facts, it won't be confusing at all. Private school is almost exactly the same...Except for the uniforms, maybe a few more and stricter rules, the price of attending, and perhaps smaller classes. If none of those things bother you, then you could go to that private school. On TV, private religious schools look so strict, nuns stand around you with rulers ready to beat you, and no one can talk...etc. In real life, it really is nothing like that-- at all. Students have relationships for sure. The only questions I guess left to ask yourself are, is changing schools and leaving your best friend the best idea(for your sake)? How badly do you want to this private school? If you do choose to go to the private school, good luck, and I'm sure that despite leaving your best friend, you're going to make many other new ones. On the other hand, if you decided to stay with public, you can be happy that you're still with your best friend, in an environment you know so well. You can think about all the money you saved by not going there. Well I hope everything works out, and whatever choice you make, it will be the right one for you.

All that matters in High School is Education! Its ok if you have to wear a uniform to get a really good education. And you can get relationships when you graduate or when there's time. I suggest you go! But its still your choice. Even if your best friend isnt going, you can make new friends and still keep the old ones!

I hope I helped with your decision!

AHH!! I'm in the same position kinda! Is the private school co-ed because if it is then you'd have relationships lol. Private is just like public cept theres less kids and if it's an expensive one there will be snobs. If you really want to go to the private school do it. You'll still see your best friend. What I did was I worte down the pro's and con's of each school and I made my choice from that. You want to think of the education you'll be getting more than the social life. Good Luck!!
