uuugh i think i gained weight since summer started, even though i've been more active. i was trying on jeans the other day and they seem smaller from the end of school. its basically only my lower stomach/sides and my upper thighs. everytime i try to eat healthier and not as often and excercise i can never stick to i t and its soo frustrating because i try on clothes and i feel like nothing looks good. i went running one morning but it felt weird because im only 13 and the only people who run/walk in my neighborhood are like, old. i reallly want to look better for when i go back to school, but idk how. what are some tips that you know work, and pleeease be specific! thank youu :)
hebe answered Sunday July 30 2006, 3:24 pm: First off: don't worry and don't go doing anything drastic: you're young and your body is gonna be changing a lot at the moment so this probably isnt a permanent thing. Also, what you're talking about is SO common - you'll be hard pushed to find a woman without a little bit of flesh around her tummy and hips, so don't fret - you're perfectly normal (it's also perfectly normal to find the whole diet-and-exercise thing impossible, I haven't succeeded yet either). I know this sounds weird, but if there are stairs in your house you can use them as gym equipment! No one can see you, and you can try doing step-ups (great for ass and thighs) or just walk or run up and down them, say, thirty times. You'd be surprised how much hard work it is! For a more toned stomach (though you've gotta remember, only a few lucky cows don't have to fight this all their lives), sit-ups or 'crunches' are really the only way to go. If you don't know exactly how to do them, LOOK IT UP on google, or go here: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
cos you can really mess up your back and neck if you do them wrongly. If you find them really hard at first try wedging your feet underneath a piece of furniture then trying again. If all this sounds boring as hell, you could just go swimming. It's way more fun and works out your entire body without you having to struggle and sweat, and will make you look brilliant all over. If you swim regularly though, protect your hair!! There are plenty of gels and stuff that do the trick. Whatever you choose to do, don't expect immediate results and don't go over-doing it - you're young and probably way more attractive than you think you are at the moment. My final advice: whatever you do, don't under any circumstances start denying yourself food. Fatty food is healthy in moderation, you NEED it to look good, just don't eat too much. Especially at thirteen, you need a balanced diet or you'll mess up your body and I promise you it's not worth it. Don't leave anything out, it's unhealthy and unnecessary. Hope you feel better about yourself soon, I bet you're gorgeous. Good luck. x [ hebe's advice column | Ask hebe A Question ]

They do so more because they are not young and don'tr go hang out with friends like your age so thier bodies are not as active so they need to. Running is a great start. Just because you eat healthy and are only 13 does not mean that you can't ba out of shape. The best thing for your thighs is squats... stand with your feet at 11 and 1 like on a clock then with your back straight only using your legs move down like you are going to sit go about half way hold for 3 sec and slowly come back up. Do this in 4 reps of 20 then adjust your feet to 9 and 3. Do the same thing and when finished go back to 11 and 1. Fr your stomach do crunches. Lay on the floor with your knees bent( your heels to your but) Put your arms to your sides stiff and straight. Slowly lift yourself to your knees only enough to get your shoulders off the floor. If you go higher then that you risk damage to your spine and back. Full sit ups are not good on your back and will cause problems when you are older. do as many as you like but atleast enough that you can feel the muscle burn. For you sides just roll to your side keep knees bent and crunch up sideways. Your body will feel twisted of a sort but they do work. To get an effect over time this will take time. you should do this every day if you can handle it or atleast everother day. As the days go increase the number of times you do each excersize. You have to have the will to do it or it will never get done . There is no miracle for this unless you can afford surgery. And then you still have things that you need to do after. xldywing answered Saturday July 29 2006, 11:53 pm: i think i gain weight since summer started too (: and i play lots of sports! well, one thing for sure - exercise. it already seems that you've been doing plenty of that already. i can never stick to my exercises or anything, so i know how you feel. if you decided to stick to running around your neighborhood, try to run hills, the steeper the better. if you don't want to do running, try out some active sports you like. you could also try to do aerobic exercises. such as sit ups, crunches, push ups, side push ups, etc. especially exercises that work your abs. doing lunges will work your quadriceps, aka thighs. an excellent way to tone your muscles doing aerobic exercises. other than exercising, eating healthy is also a big factor. i would advise eating yogurt daily. it's a great source of calcium and filling. try to cut down on fatty foods, junk foods, and candy. and that's about it! if you work on that, you'll look gorgeous! (: have fun! [ xldywing's advice column | Ask xldywing A Question ]
