Trust me, all you can feel is a tiny pinch, they draw the blood, and it's over. But if you're really worried, you might want to try focusing the pain to another part of your body, like your arm. When the needles about to go in you, pinch your opposite arm and you won't even feel the pain, it works for me all of the time. good luck :) ]
I have had severe anaemia myself (apparently I narrowly escaped a blood transfusion) but I had to admit, your symptoms aren't typical of anaemia, the main symptoms of which are extreme tiredness which does not disappear regardless of sleep, dizziness and headaches. When I was at my worst with it, it got to the point where I would stand up, walk a few metres and my legs would give way from under me, which was horribley inconvenient at work!!
The normal procedure with anaemia is to perform a blood test first of all to confirm it. They will normally take a tube or two but if you haven't had a recent set of tests, or if they feel your symptoms relate to something else, they may take more.
Following confirmation of low iron stores in your blood, they will put you on a course of iron suppletments, which you will need to take one of a day (in severe cases two a day) and at the same time, they will need to determine the cause of the deficiency. This will depend upon the other symptoms. In my case, the anaemia was related to a digestive illness called Coeliac Disease, which can cause malabsorbtion. However, anaemia can be caused by any number of different illnesses so this is always best left to the doctor.
There really isn't any need to worry. Although the loss of appetite and cravings are not typical of anaemia, should they diagnose you with this, treatment is really very simple and I can assure you that the blood test really doesn't hurt. If you are scared of needles, you can ask them to take the blood from the upper arm, rather than the crook of the arm, as this always hurts me less. ]
i know it can be scary. i'm afraid of needles too!!!! believe me. but it only hurts for a minuite and if it helps you, then don't worry about it.its worth it. i'm sorry about what your going through. just pray and keep the faith. ]
It's like a normal appointment. With bloodtests & such. It's okay. ]
They will just draw a tube of blood to get tested. Anything else is just a normal check up; nothing too big. That's what I had to do when I went in for anemia. It'll be okay, I promise. :) ]
They have to do blood tests.
Just pinch yourself really hard or something like that so that you wont pay so much attention to the pain or whatever.
It doesn't hurt that bad and it's quick.
Good luck! ]
Yeah they will need to do a blood test... but trust me it wont be that bad ]
EDIT: yOU HAVE TO GO! YOU COULD DIE OTHERWISE! THEN YOU WILL BE ON LIKE IV'S FOR LIFE
when i got tested the drew a tube of blood and that was all besides the normal check your eyes ears throat weight height etc
but don't worry its not that bad ]
