Omg, my mom just used this new brand of very strong hair dye (from the store), and she bought the color she usually gets! Problem is, since the product is so strong, the dye is put in twice as much, so her hair is completely black! (when she bought light brown!) We called the hotline & they apologized, but said we should have got the blonde. Wtf.
ANYWAY, not the problem. My question is, is there ANY way to make her hair lighter faster? Our next door neighbor told us washing your hair with dish detergent helps strip some color, but we didn't try it yet. Any suggestions? (DO NOT say lemon juice, k thanks)

Go to walmart and buy the color stripper (I've never used so I'm not sure how the results would look) or buy hair bleach and bleach it whitish-blond and then dye it dark blonde- which will give her light brown hair. This is something I've had to do in the past. It's acutally not the Maker's of the hair-dye's fault. Actually it's no one's. When your hair is over proccessed with chemicals, it will turn alot faster and darker than the shade on any box. Expiernce has taught me that. I just recently dyed my sisters hair and bought light brown because I knew it would turn her hair dark brown which is what we were going for and everything turned out perfect. Make sure if this is something she decide's to do that she buy's something like Aussie 3 minute miracle to help re-store her hair after the bleach and dye process.
Also, do not attempt to cover up the black with any other dye as what she will end up with is orange-brown hair. [ kristen22's advice column | Ask kristen22 A Question ]
sassysara answered Friday July 14 2006, 12:30 am: Most places that sell hair dye also sell something called a hair stripper basically it takes all colour out of the hair and then she could add in a gentle rinse like a henna or vegetable dye so as not to traumatise the hair too much, the stripper usually does not take out all the colour but would probably lighten it at most to a dark blonde. My other suggestion would be to call your local hair salon and ask for advice, when I accidentally died my hair flourescent orange they gave me basically the same advise I just gave you.
