sneaking away with myspace

Question Posted Saturday July 8 2006, 3:28 pm

(PROS WITH AOL.)

my mom and dad don't want me or my sister on myspace, and i've been sneaking on at my friends houses. aren't they're any sites that like...don't track it in your history? AND, i have parental blocks on my computer, and i wanted to know how to get around it...i also have AOL GUARDIAN on my account, so my mom knows what i'm doing all the time. if i use a different browswer, will it still record it?
anything would help... thanks. x333

hey,
Listen i have a suggestion, but i am not sure it could work. After you use any browser or whatever it is that you want to use, you can open the history folder, and delete all the browsers and files you used.

yeah same here
i told my parents i dont have one
and i do.
but the good thing is i dont have blocks or anything like that.
its just addicting theres so way i could delete my account.
when im done i just go to tools and then click on interent options and then click on the general tab and click clear history.
but it may not work for you because your parents can see ahve been visiting myspace.
:]

im sorry, i use msn and well my parents let me have freedom and i tell them when i click a link eg. i was on a green day website and it said sorry we have no news so entertain yourself, it was a link... i thought ooogames... i was wrong i saw the top of the screen and it said masturbate.. i was scared because i thought it would backtrack so i got out of there before it showed anything and laughed, but your parents are just trying to keep you safe, convince them like i did my grandmother because i convinced her and showed her the upside and your parents are just trying to keep you safe and thats why so many people tust aol because it has fort knox security and i dont think there is a way you can get out of this one, sorry but you have parents, and donrt blame them for wanting to keep you safe even though it may not seem fair

My parents are kind of paranoid about the "dangers of myspace" too. Try setting your account to private (explain how this works to your parents) and promising to be friends with only people you actually know personally. This will not only keep you safe from online predators that use myspace but also comfort your parents about how safe you are online. Seriously, be careful who you're friends with on myspace. If you take my advice they might let you use it though.

Well, if you use a browser such as firefox, you can have it automatically clear the history, saved forms, etc. when you close it. The problem is you'll need to be able to download and install it. My advice is not to use myspace. It may have been originally used to find other bands and such but now it's used for much worse.

"From the terms of service for Myspace

"By displaying or publishing ("posting") any Content, messages, text, files, images, photos, video, sounds, profiles, works of authorship, or any other materials (collectively, "Content") on or through the Services, you hereby grant to MySpace.com, a non-exclusive, fully-paid and royalty-free, worldwide license (with the right to sublicense through unlimited levels of sublicensees) to use, copy, modify, adapt, translate, publicly perform, publicly display, store, reproduce, transmit, and distribute such Content on and through the Services.""

If that doesn't make sense to you... Which it should. It's basically saying that Myspace.com has the right, royalty free, to take any content posted and redistribute however they want. This includes your personal information. You're basically putting everything about you on a website that has been openly admitted to being monitored by the FBI and other government organizations to profile US citizens. Try another networking site, or better yet, don't do it at all. Your parents, for once, are right.

Dear sneaky
I know this isn't the answer that your looking for, but no. I had aol parental controls on mine. I had a myspace at one point but i also got busted, and grounded in the end. Not worth it. Just make your own web page. I made one using www.bravehost.net You can have your own chat room/ journal/ guestbook/ picture gallery.
Sorry if that wasnt the answer you were looking for :(
