20 sit-ups aren't as effective as 50-100 crunches, but this and water aren't enough to lose weight. It's a total body effort with correct eating, training and resting.
The reason your back hurts is because sit-ups put unnecessary stress on the lower back that is greatly reduced when you do a crunch properly.
The reason you feel like throwing up is either because you ate too much before you exercised, you ate too little for the day before you did the exercise, or most common- you aren't breathing the correct way during the exercise. Should be careful because with sit-ups and crunches in particular there can be a high possibility of a tear in the internal adbominal wall if breathing isn't done properly. Edit- (Sorry, Exhale on the way up and Inhale on the way down.) ]
Sit ups can put strian on the back.
Ever seen commercials for the Ab Pro? All the comparisons are correct.
Personally, the Ab Pro (or as my friends call it, The Taco Folder) is fantastic. It's a great stretch and uses all of your muscles.
If you have the money, look into it. It's nice and worth the cents you have to drop.
As for the sick feeling, I'm assuming it's from the strain. I could be wrong though.
And go job with drink the water. Water is so important to a healthy body. ]
Well if you drink too much water it can make you feel bloated. So that could be why you feel like puking, and your back hurts because your most likely straining your back and neck to do your situps and not concentrating on yoru stomache muscles. Make sure to keep your stomache muscles tight and concentrate on them, so you wont hurt your neck/shoulders and back.
You may feel nausious as well just because you've been working out so much, or going to fast. Remember to do them slowly, beacuse the more concentrated they are the better the results.
