OK, well, I am in soccer, but the problem is like 5 minutes after we start I get tired because I start so fast. Well since it's off-season where I play, is there a way to get me in shape before I start playing again, so I dont run out of breath right away? Thank you so much if you could answer this!

I wanna try out for soccer, but i run for like a second and i have to stop cause i'm out of breath. Do this running excersise.
Run for 5 minutes, do 5 crunches/sit ups. ( anything that works on your abs)
Then run for 10 minutes, then do 10 crunches/sit ups.
Run for 15 minutes, do 15 crunches/sit ups.
See where i'm going with this? Try doing this excersise atleast 3 times a week for one week. The next week, increase the time you have to run. Like run for 20 minutes..then 30..then 40. Make sure you drink a lot of water though! Good luck! :) [ orphans's advice column | Ask orphans A Question ]
BMXPoet answered Monday July 3 2006, 2:01 am: i used to have the same problem when i was around 10, so i started working on it and now i have a full ride scholarship for soccer to one of the biggest universities in kansas. heres what i did...
1. start with a couple hundred sit-ups in the morning when you wake up. (im up to 560 a morning but you dont have to do that many)
2. after the sit-ups and a quick snack, go out and run a couple miles. the average miles each position runs in a game should be your goal.
defender - 5 miles
midback - 7 miles
striker (forward) - 3 miles(1 of those should be sprinting, not all together, but spread out periodically)
3. i eat pretty healthy, but thats not really a necessity. as long as you make sure to stay in shape, what you eat doesnt really matter (to me at least)
4. make concious decisions that dont make you lazy, for example: when you go to the mall, restaurant, grocery store, or whatever, instead of parking real close, park out where you have to walk a little to get in just THAT much excercise
5. keep yourself hydrated. i know it gets repeated a lot, and it gets a bit annoying and tiresome of hearing, but drink a lot of water. itll keep you hydrated so your body will have energy to do everything. if you dont like water, then try propel (made by the gatorade company), or gatorade itself. those have a taste to them which you might like (i LOVE propel myself)
6. run another mile or two when you get back home at least 2 hours before you sleep. stretch when your done to let your body relax and keep from cramping up
7. 200 more situps (what i do). you should start with a lot less, but however many you do, make it less than you do in the morning, and MAKE SURE TO KEEP HYDRATED and STRETCH. if you dont drink water and stretch, youll cram pup, or feel uncomfortable and you wont get a good night sleep.
xxsima answered Saturday July 1 2006, 5:13 pm: Running is really helpful. Start out with walking, and gradually pick up speed. Do it in a populated area with houses around and stuff, if you're running alone. Download some upbeat and catchy songs on your Ipod/MP3 so you can get in the 'mood'. If you need some songs, you can check my advice column, and there should be some questions asking for 'running' songs. Remember to stretch before you run, or you can pull a muscle. Also, when you don't feel like running, try crunches, situps, and pushups. Jumpings jacks and running in place will also help.
naturally_sadie answered Saturday July 1 2006, 4:41 pm: I play soccer too, and the same thing happened to me about a year ago. My coach told me to run 2 miles every other day. I tried it, and it really built up my endurance. Now I don't have to worry about running out of breath and if I do it's only for a few minutes.
