Something could have made him feel unsettled at home, from new furniture, other animals upsetting the balance of power, strangers leaving their scent in the home to health issues. If you can eliminate any of these it makes the diagnosis easier.
To get rid of the scenting you need a special cleaner, this should not have any bleach in it as this scent will encourage him more. Once it is clear of his scent, if you have a litter tray, put that in the area, leave it there for a couple of weeks, then very slowly move it back to where it was. this process should take several weeks. Also always make sure the litter tray is kept clean.
If you do not have a litter tray or if the spraying is in more than one area, put small plates of dry cat food in the affected places, as cats do not like to eat where they toilet.
If all this fails, and there are no health problems causing it, there are products you can buy from a pet shop or vets that can discourage spraying.
Hope that helps, good luck. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
CavieOwnsU2 answered Thursday June 29 2006, 10:04 am: I've been there and done that. For my cat, it was a urinary track infection or something like that. We had to bring him to the vet and they gave him medicine. They alos told us it is a good idea to have ne litter box for every cat, plus an extra one. No fighting over it, so if you have more than one cat, you should get naother litter box. [ CavieOwnsU2's advice column | Ask CavieOwnsU2 A Question ]
aquababe1 answered Thursday June 29 2006, 12:07 am: he either needs to be trained to go in a kitty litter box, OR if you have a lot of animals its because he feels he has to be the dominant one. my cat (one of 6) does that all the time, and the vet said its because of so many animals, and he wants to mark his territory. so idk which one it is, but gl! Notso answered Wednesday June 28 2006, 10:40 pm: from what I know spaying has nothing to do with peeing. Being spayed means your cat is unable to have any kittens, or if it is a male cat it was neutered- spaying is for females. It's a matter of training your cat to go in the litterbox now.
