ankle

Question Posted Monday June 19 2006, 10:17 am

yesterday at my basketball game, i twisted my ankle & couldn't play. it's swollen & a bit bruised, but i can limp. i can't put all my weight on it. my mom is going to go get me a wrap for it but i'm not quite sure which one. are there ace bandages that wrap around your whole ankle & the bottom of your foot?? it's like i can barely walk. any ideas??

thanks!!

ace bandages can be helpful sometimes, but amke sure not to tie it too tight, or else you can cut off the circulation, but I'm sure they have ones that big. For the swollen part, you can use ice. If you have it (you may not), cut some slices of fresh ginger and put it on your ankle. No, I'm not kidding, it really helps! It will bring the swelling down. Icy Hot works well too.

I'm sorry that you hurt your ankle and I hope it feels better. Deifnately ice it and keep it elevated and put as little weight on it as you can. Now, instead of just bandages, Ace makes handy little braces that are amazing. They go around your ankle, the bottom of about ahlf your foot, and a little above the ankle. They come in small, medium, large, and maybe x-tra large, but make sure to get the right size so it fits snuggly. If this doesn't help or the ankle continues to swell or pressure and pain increases, go to the doctor immediately to make sure you didn't break a bone or hurt a muscle severely. Feel Better!

I think you should go to the urgent care department of your doctor's office.

Hey. i'm sorry to hear about your ankle! yeah, they have ace bandages in all kinds of sizes. i think there are like regular and really wide ones, i would get the regular ones because then it's easier to wrap. Or, you could go to your docter, and they might give you what's called an air cast. I hope this was helpful to you and your ankle feels better soon!!
