Flying's not as bad as it may seem. Sure, the take-offs and landings are a little scary [it's the best part, though], but other than that the plane ride it nice. I've flown numerous times & i fly by myself a lot, too [i'm 15, by the way].. it's fun, though. I like it. & Yeah, you do hit turbulance sometimes.. some of it can be a little rough, but don't worry about. You have a TON of time before you have to fly [unless you plan on making a trip by plane anytime soon], so don't stress.
duudee_advicer answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 7:34 pm: My daddy works for an airline, so we always fly. It's not bad at all, infact, I LOVE it! Turbulance isn't bad, its just like, shaking. It usually doesn't last for more then 5-10 minutes, most only last about 30seconds to a minute. Its just like, idk, hitting speed bumps on the road. Just bring a MP3 player and relax, the pilots know what they're doing :) [ duudee_advicer's advice column | Ask duudee_advicer A Question ]

isis answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 6:47 pm: Flying is one of the most amazing things you can ever do. I love it so much I have flying lessons whenever I can. I used to be terrified of planes and swore I would never, ever get on one. Then I had a moment of madness and booked a holiday which involved flying. I have been hooked ever since.
Yes you can hit turbulance, but it's only air pockets and thermals and they don't make you crash. You could just fall a little way and it can also feel a bit bumpy, but the pilot has complete control of the plane at all times. Try to imagine you're on a fairground ride and enjoy it.
Planes are the safest way to travel these days, it's far safer than being on the ground.
If it's a long flight you get to watch a movie, you get fed, they have shopping on board and at the end of it you will be at Disney World. How could you say no?
It's not for ages yet but look forward to the experience and make the most of it. There is no need to worry about it. You will be fine.
Hope that helped, best of luck and enjoy your holiday. [ isis's advice column | Ask isis A Question ]
x0_maggie answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 6:41 pm: I LOVE plane rides. Okay, turbulance usually happens during bad weather, and the air patrol tries to avoid bad weather completely. I've been on a plane over 50 times and I've never been hit by lightning bolt, or had roller coaster rides on a plane. Never. Plane rides are definately not scary.
ASKxKATiEx3 answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 5:54 pm: well if you're afraid of flying..just like sit by people you know..espesially on the senior trip just dont worry because you will be surrounded by your friends! if they are real friends they will understand how you feel & help you through your fears. remember, probably the best, if not one of the best, ways to get over your fears is to actually FACE them. soo, don't be afraid, cuz if you don't take chances in life, you will never know what could of happened! i really hope my advice helped you! write back if you need anything else! ♥ katie [ ASKxKATiEx3's advice column | Ask ASKxKATiEx3 A Question ]
Vikki27 answered Tuesday June 13 2006, 5:44 pm: Like you, I'm terrified of flying but I have flown somewhere around 13 times now. The honest truth is that if you are afraid of flying, turbulence will ALWAYS be scary. However, it's extremely rare for a plane to go down as a result of turbulence and you need to remember that all it is is air pockets and thermals. It's really nothing to worry about. It tends to be worse when you go over water or through thick cloud but, as I say, it really isn't anything to worry about.
It may reassure you to know that more people are actually killed by donkeys every year than in plane crashes. Whenever I have to fly, I remind myself of that statistic every few minutes, to help myself stay calm.
Believe me, if it is a Senior Trip at stake here, you should go. Yes, flying can be an unnerving experience but you never know, you might actually find you love it! Besides which, the trip will be worth it and if you don't go, you will spend a long time kicking yourself for it afterwards.
