hopeless_n_indiana answered Saturday June 3 2006, 9:08 pm: To be totally honest, the very beginning of any run, fast or slow, is the hardest part. I am a looong distance runner and i dont know too much about sprinting but as far as distance goes, once you break the 2 min barrier, it gets easier, lots easier.
Make sure that you do a proper warm up and stretches. Doing this gets the blood moving to all of your muscles adn prevents lactate acid from pooling (this stuff is what makes you feel fatigue) So i hope i've helped, you just have to slowly build your endurance and take it easy, your body will let you know when your pushing to hard.
also, there are two types of pain, there is the "i am tired from running" pain and the "i am injured" pain, make sure you know the difference!
CavieOwnsU2 answered Saturday June 3 2006, 7:40 pm: It depends on how fast you are running. For example, a 400 (once around the track) will knock anyone's breathe out if done at a fast sprint. Good runners do that in a little over a minute. But like other people have said, pace yourself. You may also want to have a reward at the end. For example, when if we run all of are 2 or 3 mile (depending on the day) run we get a small piece of candy. You can either have it be something small or something large like "once i can run 1 mile in under 10 minutes, i will go get a cute hair cut." However, don't over push it! Start slow and keep a steady pace with your breathing. Also, eat right. Carbs help alot. It gives you more energy. But don't forget to channel that energy into a STEADY pace. You'll run a lot longer that way. I hope I helped and I hope you have fun running in your compatition! Let me know how it goes! - GC07 [ GC07's advice column | Ask GC07 A Question ]
