on canal street in new york do they really have people with stolen goods that have the real designer bags? do the bags on the street look verry real even though they are fake? 5's for anyone that comments =)
I can actually tell if they are fake though. For the monogram canvas on the fakes the brown is much darker than a real louis vuitton.
I would never buy anything fake though, it's just saying your too poor to have something real i rather have no louis rather then having a fake one thats justmy opnion not to hurt anyone's feelings or put anyone down [ xdancecoutureo's advice column | Ask xdancecoutureo A Question ]

ForfeitYourDream answered Sunday May 28 2006, 5:36 pm: Yes, they really do, and many knockoffs are fairly accurate replicas of the actual designer bags.
It IS pretty hard to tell which bags are real and fake.
Look for a serial number and feel the bag. If it's leather, but feels stiff or is cracked, it's not worth buying. I find it helpful to look up the bag I want online at the actual designer's website and print out a picture of it to take with me. That way, you can compare the replica bag to the picture of the actual bag and figure out if it's real or not. [ ForfeitYourDream's advice column | Ask ForfeitYourDream A Question ]
loves2shop86 answered Sunday May 28 2006, 12:24 pm: hey! ok just so you know, when you are there some people selling bags will try and tell you that they have the real thing and they stole it from the store and are now selling it to you at a cheaper price. that is probably the biggest lie ever... everything on that street is FAKE! if you "stole" a real louis vuitton purse and could sell it for over 1,000 dollars, why would you sell it for 20?? it just makes no logical sense... not to mention that if you go into a louis vuitton store or any other designer store like that, there is pretty much a person watching every purse in there... and most of them are even locked up in glass boxes! it's impossible to steal from there... it's just a lie that they use to get you to buy their stuff or pay more for them.
but the thing is, even though they are all fake, many of them look exactly like the real thing. i got a louis vuitton that is identical to the real one... even the zippers and the inside is marked exactly right. no one even suspects that it's fake unless i tell them, and even then they are surprised. why spend so much money on something when you can get something identical for much less? of course the quality is much lower... but who cares, it's worth it!
if you want to buy a fake purse from there, just google the brand you want along with something like "spot fakes" or something like that... you should get websites explaining to you what the real thing looks like, and what many fakes are missing. that way you can shop around for the fake that looks the most like the real thing! :) good luck and let me know if you need more help! Mackenzie answered Sunday May 28 2006, 10:32 am: There is definitely no shortage of fake handbags on the streets of New York City. They actually do a fine job of copying them. Unless you have someone who knows what the originals look like and is willing to take the time to examine it, they probably won't be able to deciefer. And of course they are all missing the inside logo, but that wouldn't be seen by anyone but you. [ Mackenzie's advice column | Ask Mackenzie A Question ]
