Mandy116 answered Friday July 25 2008, 3:22 pm: There isnt a problem with her using tampons. She might be uncomfterble. But to make her the most comfterble i'd get her the "teen slim fit". They are slimmer for easyer insertion. That or those with plastic aplicators. [ Mandy116's advice column | Ask Mandy116 A Question ]

my mom doesnt think it is safe for even me to be wearing a tampon.
im 13/f and have had my period for 2 years now.
i wore tampons before but last time all of them leaked into my undies.
my mother said maybe that the area is not used to something 'forgein' up there.
and i think its very uncomfortable.

ciao77 answered Tuesday July 22 2008, 7:31 pm: As the others have said, it is okay for her to wear a tampon, as long as she is comfortable with it. If not, she can alternate with pads, or just use pads (ultra thins are usually preferred). If she is comfortable with using tampons, I would recommend getting her plastic applicator tampons- they are a bit easier to use, especially for beginners. I started off using Playtex Gentle Glide - there are multipacks available, with regular and super absorbency- she should of course use the tampon that matches her flow. Whichever brand you choose, make sure it has a plastic applicator. She might already know to change the tampon every few hours (ideally 3-4), or you might want to remind her about the necessity to do so. In any case, I would not recommend using tampons overnight- long pads with wings should be fine. I would also recommend talking to her about and asking what her preferences are. You might also want to have her around to choose the tampons. [ ciao77's advice column | Ask ciao77 A Question ]
barneyrocks answered Tuesday July 22 2008, 4:00 pm: in addition, i think tampax pearl would be a good idea to use because it's slim and easy to use. i think the only problem with her wearing the tampon is whether she can put it in and how often she changes tampons. ConfusedBoutLove answered Tuesday July 22 2008, 3:19 pm: like the person before me said...i don't see a problem with her wearing a tampon. if she already wears tampons ask her what size those are and get those. also what you can do is get a box with a few sizes. my mom usually got me the tampons that had slim and regular in one.
also like the person before me said. make sure she does change it. my mom, when i first started my period and wearing tampons, told me a story about one of her friends who didn't change her tampon. she went to the emergency room and had it taken out by a male doctor. later that night she was getting ready for a blind date and her date was the male doctor who took her tampon out. so i always think about that when i'm putting in tampons so i'll remember to change them later. lol soo if you want you can tell her that story. but its up to you
solightninglove answered Tuesday July 22 2008, 2:33 pm: i don't see why she couldn't wear a tampon, it all depends on how responsible she is, but you can also remind her to change it. just make sure she changes it every four to eight hours. i would go more on the four hours side. anyway. heres a website with good tips on tampon usage: [Link](Mouse over link to see full location)
make sure she gets the right absorbancy tampons too. there are normal slim ultraslim heavy. ask her what she needs and if she doesn't know, i would go with normal or slim since she is pretty young. [ solightninglove's advice column | Ask solightninglove A Question ]
