Indented scar

Question Posted Tuesday May 23 2006, 5:22 pm

I fell and got a big gash on my leg when I was 11, and I didn't get it stitched, but now I have an indentation about 3" by 3". Does anyone know any ways to get rid of it. I'm small framed, so i'm very embarrased about it because to me it looks like cellulite. please help.

Really at this point the mederma or any treatment that you try will not work. If the scar is red or leaves a shadow with a distinct border it will be more noticable. In that case you can cover it with cosmetics. Otherwise your best bet is to see a plastic surgeon, sometimes they can inject the scar to build up the indented area.

To be truthful though as a nurse, I've seen tons of scars on people that are not pretty..but life goes on!

The people who care about you probably don't even notice it. If a stranger asks, make up some really unique story to tell them that will make them sorry they asked. Then..walk away laughing.

Own it! Tell everybody you got in a knife fight, they'll think you're a total badass, it'll be awesome.

You can also try vitamin E... you can buy gel caps at most stores that you can pop or break to get the liquid out and apply to your scar and it might fade a little. It won't go away completely though, sorry.

Ugh this sux rite? I've got two scars on my upper lip frum a childhood accident (long story) and as a result I got 23 stitches. Even still it's like, OUT THERE for the world to gawk at. Don't feel ugly at all! Seriously, you can apply as much cream and serum and friggen peanutbutter you want on it, it's not gonna dissapear forever. Especially one that large, but what you CAN do is [okay, I'm about to get all commercial-announcer on you] talk to your doctor about it. Alot of times you can get a special surgery on it where they of use a sort of abrasion to make it more evened out but won't make it go away all together. These surgeries can be expensive but the results are supposed to be great!
NOTHING can fully take it away but at this point, anything's worth a shot right? I can totally relate but seriously, talk to your doctor if you're really considering getting it removed (or smoothed out).

Well I know about big scars,
I have one on my back on my shoulder blade that curves around really far to almost my side,
since I had heart surgry when i was little...

so yeah i hate scars,
well big ones that are noticable.

get mederma for scars,
you put it on your scar, and it should make it feel softer, and look lighter and yeah.

:}
