Party!

Question Posted Thursday May 18 2006, 2:11 pm

I'm 18/f. My boyfriend's birthday is coming up in june (he's turning 21), and I had the idea to throw him a really cool party, but I have a bunch of options right now and I'm not sure which to go with. My first idea was to have the party at his house (surprise party), and involve his parents.
Thing about his parents is I don't think they really like me, and I'd like to win them over, so to speak. I think if I went and talked to them about it, they might like me more...well, this might actually go in another question...anyway, I could throw it at his house and involve his parents a little bit, but then it'd have to be a dry party.
I could also get some of my older friends to help me out and make it a wet party, but then it couldn't be at his house, and it might cost more.
Money's not much of a problem right now, but I don't wanna like, splurge, so I can't like rent a place or anything. Yannow? It'd have to be at a friend's house or something.
So I guess I'm asking if anyone has ideas and/or opinions.
Lemme know!
Decent spelling and grammar, please. They're important. If you TyPe LyK dIz, you're not getting a five. =D

have the party at is parents house, and get them involved. let them get an image of you being a good an responsible girl, one who doesn't condone drinking. ;)
and even if it was a dry party...surprise parties are ALWAYS fun. and this way you'll be killing two birds with one stone; getting his parents respect (hopefully) and throwing a fun (reasonably priced) party for your bf.

Hello
I think that involving this lad's parents for a "dry" party would be very smart. A "wet" party would be very unwise especially if you organized it. Just imagine this boy's parent's reaction when they see their son drunk because of you. And, if you are 18 you couldn't drink at the party anyways, right? If ypu make this boy happy, then how could his parents not like you. It might be fun to have a "little kid" party. You could have baloons, pink party hats, and farty favours.
Have fun! (and stay sober untill you are 21)

hey, a surprize party is great! but there are pros and cons of having the party at the parents house. pros- they will respect you more and like you better because your catering to there son cons- the party might be stuffy&&boring. i think you should throw a party at one of your friends houses. but let the parents know like ask them a question purposely so they get the hint that your having a party for him. cait♥

Okay well i think a surprise party for your boyfriend is a really great idea. I think you should go to his parents for advice on what he likes, even if you already know what he likes, just so they can feel involved. That might make them like you more. Just have the party at one of your friends houses and see if you can make it so they dont go. If they go anyway then just make sure it's a "wet" party, even with them there :)!
