Colors?

Question Posted Wednesday May 17 2006, 6:44 pm

I am about to run for Sophomre class President at my school. We are permitted to post no more than 20 9'' x 12'' posters. I want these to stand out, so I was wondering...

What colors make you stop and look?

Does big font attract you?

And any other information that you think would be beneficial to me. If you have any further questions, please submit them to my inbox-- Igotamonopoly.

And also, pleease note that I don't care what your favorite color is. Automatic one if you just tell me your favorite clolr without justification.

Thank you so much for helping me with my campaign!!

Big, bold font that is pretty but readable is a must. The main to think about with colors is contrast. A dark color like red, green, or blue with white would look pretty cool. You could also try black with light blue or green- it catches the eye AND it looks cool. I don't recommend doing neon green and hot pink or anything like that, because although it definitely stands out, it hurts people's eyes and is hard to read.

I ran for student government, made posters, and won, so I'll tell you what I did- I made copies of six different posters, each with a different picture of me. I put slogans on each one, like "Vote ____ for Social Chair! It'll do wonders for your complexion!", "Vote ____ for Social Chair! 'Cause she ain't no hollaback girl!", and "Vote _____! Because her name means 'good Social Chair' in Swahili!" They were pretty silly, but they stood out to people and, as I said, I ended up winning, so I had to have done something right.

Hope these help!
Good luck, I hope you win!

Neon colors. espcially green yellow and pink. When people were running for class president at my school the signs were kind of boring and they mad all of their signs saying the same exact thing.

Make yours really creative.

And a picture of you on every single poster but don't just stand there.

Put a saying on the poster again not the same thing.

Ex. - Take a picture of you climbing up a slide.&& have the saying "vote for _____ because she does things different."

Make the font cute but readible.

Hwen you post them at school spread them out dont have them all in one part of the school.

Neon colours certainly make me stop and look, but I find em really hard to read and just ... obnoxious, but yeah it is the most eye catching. If you can, I'd invest in stronger paper then normal, it looks better, lasts longer and is bolder.

Most people wont look at a poster for more then three seconds, so you need to make sure the really important information is really clear; your name, what you are running for, and maybe one point you support. So yeah, big text is good, no one will read a bunch of tiny bullet points.

Normally, after a person sees a sign once, they never really look at it again, that's why I think it's a great idea to have a few different signs that are all united by a theme (the colour, the size or the text) so people know they are all yours, but look different enough to attract attention again.

I agree with the person before me... Neon pink signs definatly draw your attention to the sign. The colors that they use for schools are ususally very toned down and the pink would offer a huge contrast to that. I think that neon orange or blue would do well for the same reason. Black font is usually the best way to go because other colors tend to get lost in the bright background.

at my school, the ones that really stood out to me were neon pink. they were really bright and had big black font and black and white polka dot ribbon at the bottom. there was like this half sphere thing at the top which made it 3-d and really noticable. it was simple and elegant and definatly got attention. good luck!<3

Heyy
Okay so, if your going for attention grabber try this.

Large letters, ( try cutting them out of a patterned paper * polka dots, plaid, stripes etc ) Make sure theyre bubble letter type, those grab attention.

Add sparkles, glitter, and sequins, those always attract girls, you can add cute stuff like boa's and feathers and stuff :)

Neon poster boards, IE: Pink, Green, Orange that are really bright are bound to grab attention.

Try using a catchy phrase or change the words to a jingle around to make them suit your style/name.

Remember, keep the posters cute, and keep them clean. Do not over add stuff, or else people will get confused and not even bother to look. Be sure to include a pretty picture of you on it.

( IDEA: Do a " I want YOU " type thing. Make a picture of Uncle Sam, but with your head on his body. Put the words I WANT YOU TO VOTE ________ FOR CLASS PRESIDENT " just a thought to spark your creativty! )

Have fun with it, and good luck :)
