failing 1 class

Question Posted Tuesday May 16 2006, 4:53 pm

I go to a public highschool in Philadelphia & I'm in 11th grade. I'm a good student and I usually do well with grades. I failed one class, Chemistry, this year. This is the first time I've ever failed and it's a major subject. I really do not want to go to summer school, so is there any other way to make up the credit? I want to graduate on time and it's really senseless to go to summer school for 1 class that I failed by a few points.

I failed chemistry too, but only half of it =D
You can go to your counselor and ask him/her if you can take the class next year and somehow fit it into your senior-schedule. Maybe you can drop a class you dont really need (Like an elective). Talk to your counselor about it, thats what my school does so maybe it will work for you too.

Alright, try talking to your chemistry teacher sometime this week. Ask him/her if there is any possible things for the rest of the year that can boost your grade. Tell him that you are very determined and you will be commited to the work if he allows ex. credit. If you don't want to approach him personally, ask your mom to write a note saying those things and telling him how important it is to you and her. I agree, summer school would suck so do everything in your ability to bring that grade higher.

*I hate this just as much as anyone else but if there is any assignment coming up, read every direction and spend how ever long you can working on it. Also, if you want to make sure the assignment is perfect, go over your plans with the teacher. If everything looks good, don't be afraid to go for it.

Have fun =)

well asking us on advicenators won't help because each school has different policies on getting credit .. so here's my advice; talk to your guidance counselor because they handle all the scheduling and stuff at my school .. they'll tell you how to make up credit without going to summer school.
