why do opposites attract?
16/F,This guy told me that he really likes me and I really like him too. But, the strange thing is that we're both really different and we don't have much in common. He is outgoing and is part of the whole popular crowd and mostly enjoys partying and getting drunk all the time. I'm the direct opposite of him cause I'm mostly a shy person and I'm not the crazy party type. Everyone tells me that itz cause of the whole opposites attract thing, but I can never understand why does it work that way?

it's actually quite simple, you see the whole oppisites attract is all about what you can and can't live without. For example this guy is a live wire and you're pretty calm as you say. These atributes are somewhat like ying and yang. two of the opposites make one whole, and function as one. You're attracted to him cuase he's diffrent, he's random, he lives his life and love to party. Something about that makes you attracted to it and wish to know a lil more am i right? while he finds you attarctive cuase something about a girl who know's what's right and wrong and who's shy and quiet. long story short, it's tow of the most complete oppisites that make a pair, light and dark, left and right.

Maybe because you'd get bored of always hanging out with people exactly the same as you.

I am not a huge believer in the whole 'opposites attract' thing, but you are too different from this guy to start a relationship with.
Your opposites are extreme. While you like to watch TV or cuddle or go to the movies on the weekends, he'll want to be out partying and drinking and interacting with strangers.
I'm not saying that opposites don't attract, but you can't apply that quotation to this situation. It's too extreme to me and you'll never be able to find a whole lot of trust within this guy because who knows what he'll do one day when he's drunk. He could end up cheating on you, or doing something really stupid like driving drunk. My advice to you is to honestly find someone more like you. It's possible to have feelings for someone who is completly different from you, but it will all eventually fall apart later when your interests matter.

It's just interesting to look at life in a different way, or to know how it feels to be completely different! In the end, I don't think that opposites attract. Sure, opposites may attract at first, but I think that the differences will start to strengthen and cause friction between the couple. Honestly, could you imagine marrying someone who thinks and acts and likes so many different things than you? Imagine deciding what furniture to get or where to go on vacation.

If two people who fight alot are together, all they're gonna do is fight. Sometimes having TOO much in common can be a bad thing.
To me, opposites attract, is like balancing each other out. That's just my opinion though, it doesn't work this way for everyone!

I think oppisites attract because if one person is shy and the other person is outgoing they complete each other.
The outgoing person is more shy, and the shy person is more outgoing. It gives your life a little twist, like something different. =]

I think it works that way because you kind of learn from the other person because of the fact that both of you are so different from each other. I can't really explain it but being different is not a bad thing at all. When two people in a relationship are different, that gives both people the chance to try/do things they normally wouldn't do. I also think that when two people are in a relationship and they are different from each other it brings them even closer.

i think opposites attract not because of their actions(partying, getting drunk) but because they like the other person's mind, they like their jokes, and style, and personality. everyone is outgoing on the inside and he already realized that and likes you for what is on YOUR inside.
i wasn't quite sure how to answer this, but i hope it helps anyways.
