I have been getting really sad/depressed lately, and for no reason or for small reasons. I overreact to everything or just have breakdowns. I have been getting more and more of them recently, and I don't know what I should do. Sometimes I'll be really happy and then sometimes I feel like I have no friends and want to die. Is there something wrong with me? Do I have manic depression?
BlondBritBrit answered Sunday May 7 2006, 2:00 am: ya, i have almost the same problem. I don't wanna die, but ill just start freaking out at night because my life has been so..... grrrrr... i dont like it anyway. Mines for small reasons also. Im going to guess that you do the same as me: you don't talk to your friends about your problems, its about a guy sometimes, and other peoples sadness affects you too. k well, got to go. Good night.

If it continues like this for a while, you should get it checked out. [ Vendetta's advice column | Ask Vendetta A Question ]

It could be stress, or anxiety. Or both of them together. You are a teenager & almost everyone goes through some kind of depression at some point in their life.
Stress is a great thing for dragging you down and making you feel almost ill at times just due to the nature of the pressure that it places and applies on you.
Depression is a surefire barrier to happiness. Therefore you need to try to overcome depression if you want to be happy. Overcoming depression and how to do it varies from person to person, but there are certain things that can help.
The first is to exercise regularly and to take care of your health. This can boost feel good factor and self worth.
The next is to try to keep busy - that way you just won't have the time to feel bad.
The next thing is to keep things simple - try to eliminate the thousand and one worries from your life. Try to focus on those things that really matter to you - make a list of the top five things in your life and promise to yourself that you won't worry about anything else
Next, ensure that you only worry about things in your domain of control. Too many people worry about things they can't, like the weather. Be fair to yourself and just think about the things you can influence - friends, family, your work and relationships.
That way you start to re-gain control of your life, add focus and healthiness, and depression should be given the boot!

Try focusing on doing things that make you feel good, and when you start to feel sad or upset, dust the feeling off. [ DefinedEyes's advice column | Ask DefinedEyes A Question ]
KimRose answered Saturday May 6 2006, 4:30 pm: the good news is that no, you are not manic depressive.
the bad news is, you are a teenage girl. every single girl i know, including myself has gone through that stage.
if you were manic depressive, your depression would last between 6 monthes to a year and then the manic stage would come after and last the same amount of time and alternate back and forth. manics have a high amount of energy and it is way differant then just being happy or giddy.
hope i helped
