Question Posted Tuesday April 25 2006, 9:16 pm

I am in a play for school and its called "Poetry Coffee House". I need to wear a costume thats like from that period where they went to coffee houses and read poetry and snapped for applause. also when they talked like(this is a line in the play): Hey chaz, what you folks are gonna' see tonight is like.... alot.
I dont think we are supposed to dress like hippies but all our director said so far is the boys should wear barrets. please help i desperatly need it!

Sorry, I'm probably late, but you will want to go for an artistic look... like, long pants, black shirt and a scarf? Hope I helped.

You will have to skim down the page a bit but this site has a few references to fashion of that era in it.

The bad thing about that generation, if you haven't studied it, is that women's lib was a thing of the future. Most of the women were kept in the background...not all but most. Its very hard to find much about them.

I think this site will be helpful to you though.

Have fun. Sounds like a really cool play! :)
