im 16/female and i have diabetes type 1, ive had it since grade 2 and im still living. I need to know if anyone else who has this disease can help me. I want to know what would happen if my nondiabetic friends took insulin(what i use)and what would happen if i did pot. Thanks
I don't have diabetes, but I am a nurse and have a family member with type 1 diabetes, who is a little older than you are.
If a person who does not have diabetes would take insulin their blood sugar would drop extremely low. It could go so low that they would go into a coma and die. If you've lived with diabetes for so long I am sure you have experienced a low blood sugar a time or two so you can explain to them what it would feel like. I honestly hope it's just a question, and not something you have considered doing.
As far as smoking pot, it has an effect on the cardiovascular (heart and blood vessels) system..and so does diabetes. In addition it would most likely interfear with your metabolism so you would not be able to regulate your blood sugar as well. This leaves you even higher risk for blood circulation problems that could affect your kidneys, vision and so on. Also your thinking will be altered and you might not be able to respond appropiatly to your sugars, diet, insulin and so on. [ Nallie's advice column | Ask Nallie A Question ]

There are PLENTY of non-dangerous things that AREN'T drugs that you can do.
Here are just a few examples: drawing, reading, yoga, meditation, writing, learning a foreign language, swimming, running, playing board games, jumping around, going to the movies, planting flowers, teaching children how to read, creating something, rollerblading, playing basketball, etc.

do not use pot. you shouldn't be using it/having it with you if you are a diabetic or not! it is against the law and very bad for you.
SECOND: this would be not great for your friends, it might make then hyperer, but do not ever do it again

As far as marijuana use goes. According to this article, other than possibly making bad food choices, it would have no effects on a diabetic that others don't have.
