I'm 16/f and my mom gave me her 2000 Lexus but my dad wants to sell it and get me a 2000 or 2001 Honda Accord and I looked at pictures of them, they seem very old style and I don't want to be driving in a grandma-style car. The two door Honda Accords are nice, but my dads making me get a four door. I dont have a lot of knowledge in cars -- so should I go for the Honda or beg to keep the Lexus?
loves2shop86 answered Monday April 3 2006, 3:47 pm: have your dad check how much he can sell the lexus for... if it's not a big difference then go ahead and ask to keep it. but if it's a couple of thousand dollars, then i would deffinitely get the honda... trust me you are a young driver and you are going to hit that car a couple of times... hopefully nothing big, but you are bound to back up into something sooner or later... hey when i was 16 i deffinitely hit a few things! if you do end up getting the lexus, then maybe you can have the difference in price put away and get a nicer car in a couple of years when you are a more experienced driver! and come on, a honda can't be that "grandma"!! if anything the lexus is more grandma... i mean think about it, all the old people drive expensive cars! haha either way good luck and be careful! If you're paying the insurance, at least in Canada, it would cost way more to insure a Lexus, and even a two door Honda than it would a 4 door Honda, because a two door is classified as a sports car. Also parts for a Honda are more common, so upkeep and maintenance would be less expensive.
The easiest way to figure out what car you like best is to probably test drive both of them. Remeber it's not about what they look like, but how easy you find to drive the car. Besides, you can always paint the car, and jazz up the interior.
