if you and your mom haven't ever been close then maybe you and her would become close if you told her. you really need a mother to help you becuase i wouldn't understand anything if i wasnt tight with my mom. once you tell her, if you do, then you two can go shopping together for pads and get close =)

Sorry my 1st answer didn't help you.Maybe you could try to plan something to do with her like the mall,or just like dinner or something with just the 2 of you. This way you can become closer BEFORE you tell her. Then it won't be so awkward when you do.If you feel like your really too far away from her, you could tell your nurse and then you could request she tell your mom. This way it won't be as embarassing.Hope this helps this time.

I don't have much of a relationship with my mom either. But when I got my perid, I broke the ice. It was about time. Because ever since I told her, we've been really good friends. I think you should just go up to your mom privately of course, and tell her. =]

I can understand how you feel but every girl gets a period so there is really nothing to be embaressed about. Just go up to her and be like mom i got my period.

most moms are happy to hear their little girl started their period. kept in mind she gets a period too. just calmly go to her and tell her. don't do what i did when i started my period, i started flipping out and crying (lol).

Every girl has a period, so its really not as big of a deal that you're making it out to be. Just tell her "Oh yeah, Mom, I started my period the other day" No big deal. She probably won't have anything to say about it except for "Okay" or "Congratulations!"

What I said was, "Mom, I have this brown stuff in my underwear." Then she said you prob. got your period yadda yadda ya. I would say that... I'm really close with my mom too and I didn't know how to tell her. Don't worry and just relax, count to three and say it.

i was the same way! we were at the store like the day after i got it (i was also 14) and i was like "mom...i think we need to get some pads" and she's like "oh,ok". it was painless. just tell her, it's not bad. <3

Don't be embarrassed to tell her. She will understand and make it easy on you.

Just say "Mom I have started my period". Just say it quick and get it over with! It will be okay. :)
